Integrative Skills Training
Is a flexible, multifaceted approach, offering tools and techniques to meet people where they are in the moment. This group has a strong educational component designed to teach skills for coping with the distressing symptoms of stress, emotional dysregulation, or anxiety.
While every integrative approach is slightly different, this groups design draws heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a focus on teaching skills and tools for working through symptoms.
Our Teaching Focus
Mindfulness to accept and be present in the current moment by noting the fleeting nature of difficult emotions and thoughts, diminishing the power of emotional reactions, and contributing to understanding the self as context.
Distress tolerance, the ability to tolerate negative emotion rather than needing to escape from it or acting in ways that make difficult situations worse.
Emotion regulation and cognitive strategies to manage intense emotions and unhelpful thought patterns.
Psychological flexibility, dynamic processes that unfold over time, allowing people to adapt to fluctuating situational demands, reconfigure mental resources, shift perspective, and move towards values-based action.
