LaChelle Garza
LPC, QMHP
LaChelle grew up in Roseburg, beginning her education at UCC, then earning a Bachelors in Anthropology/Sociology, with a minor in Gender Studies from Eastern Oregon University, and graduating with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell in 2017. Having lived in Roseburg all of her life, LaChelle, still loves the area, the culture, and the people of Douglas County. She has a husband of 38 years with three wonderful adult children and five grand littles, who are great fun. She also enjoys traveling, family anything, and of course Disney!
LaChelle believes everyone can reach an optimum state of health through employing Existentialist and Choice Therapy approaches. Existentialism, which mainly operates on the belief system of ‘the here and now’ and highlights the idea of free will and personal responsibility. Choice Therapy is another theory, which emphasizes the only person whose behavior we can control, is our own. To align with patients LaChelle employs an eclectic approach, with a strong reliance on Person Centered Therapy, as well as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to change pesky habits by understanding how the body, and brain communicate.
LaChelle has been trained in Brainspotting (BSP) which especially helps with trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, and any other strong emotion, to release the hold it has in the brain, by “going where trauma lives”. The longer the brain holds on to the memories, the more distorting they become to everyday mental cognition. BSP attempts to help patients process, address, and mitigate the stored emotions, working towards optimum health.
